Food, Business, Farms–Growing Connecticut–Bakery, Plant People, Books

“Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell, and advertise.” Ted Turner

Love what you do and you’ll not ever work a day in your life. Roll up your sleeves and sweat? Yes. Give everything you’ve got and then some to sleep like dead when the day is done? Of course. Face struggles, roadblocks, and “sorry, we can’t help you at this time” from institutions? You bet.

Find a way, make one. Care deeply about your mission–be it rescuing animals to walking them for those on vacation, helping out at a growing business, founding one. Dreams into reality.
(You’ll never know unless you try.) Get the word out.

You aren’t alone.

Local. Grown with care and attention–a business with heart. Created with dedication. Here are some places and people, great products, produce, purpose.

The book is right there on the table, this is how it was found. From the first-ever CT Book Walk Day 2025 in Old Wethersfield. Stephanie Prieto, Wesleyan University Press–so grateful you posted on Bluesky in the morning–helped us to find you and learn about these great books. Very well attended this event. Many families too.
Architecture, Black history, O’Rourke’s Diner, Florence Griswold connections, preservation. Prudence Crandall. David Leff. Hartford. This year’s CT Book Walk is July 25, 2026.

For Connecticut authors and book people: “A place for Connecticut Authors to showcase their books and for people anywhere looking for books written by Connecticut authors” exists on Facebook. Linked here or search using those words.

Tesoro Gallery & Gifts is now in Wallingford–21 years and growing.

Last but not least–the linear trail along Research Parkway–food trucks have been mentioned for the parking areas along the way. Will someone see the potential to promote local businesses, off beat places, eateries, wonders? We’ll see.
