This Labor Day weekend, fair season is in full swing. Pick from the four-day Haddam Neck Fair or the Woodstock Fair on Sept. 3, 4, 5, 6; or the Goshen Fair, Sept. 4, 5, 6.

Interested in mushrooms? The Fourth Annual Fungus Fair is Saturday, Sept. 18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Millers River Environmental Center, 100 Main St., Athol, Mass. Respected mycologists from throughout the U.S. will be on hand to share their knowledge. Morning and afternoon expeditions will be led by experienced mycologists who can identify and collect mushrooms. Authorities will give talks throughout the day on topics that include a general overview of fungi, beginner’s mushroom identification, mushroom taxonomy, and easily identified edibles. The Friends of Hammonasset State Park invite people to contribute their memories, photographs and experiences of the state park for a celebration of the park’s 90th birthday on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3. A scrapbook is under construction and will be displayed at the fall celebration, as well as online. The 22nd Annual Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival has been chosen to host the Eastern Cashmere Goat Show. Wendy Pieh of Springtide Farm in Maine will be this year’s show judge. The festival is held at Tunbridge Fairgrounds in Tunbridge, VT, Saturday, Oct. 2 and Sunday, Oct. 3. More than 2,000 fiber enthusiasts will gather to attend the many workshops being offered, peruse the animal barns and browse more than 65 of the finest fiber artists. Sponsored by the Vermont Sheep and Goat Association, dedicated to the growth of Vermont’s sheep, goat and fiber industry.

The Small Alpaca Farms of the Northeast (SAFONA) 4th Annual Fall Classic Alpaca Show is Oct. 2 and Oct. 3 at the Kutztown Fairgrounds, 225 North White Oak St., Kutztown, Penn., with AOBA-certified judge Helen Humphreys.

Olde Mistick Garlic Festival, Olde Mistick Village, Sept. 18 and Sept. 19.

Celebrating Agriculture happens on Saturday, Sept. 25, Woodstock Fairgrounds, Route 169, Woodstock Conn., free admission and parking, rain or shine, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A day filled with agricultural displays, family events, food and entertainment. Family fun includes White House egg decorating contest, and the Connecticut Poultry Association omelet and crepe cooking demonstrations.
